SECTION ONE – WORKS ON CANVAS OR BOARD

Mixed media, acrylic, oil, collage, print, on canvas, Masonite, wood or non-paper-based.

SECTION THREE – MINIATURE AWARD

Any subject, any medium. The artwork to be no larger than 10cmx10cm (not including frame) or 100sq cm or 40cm when all dimensions are added together.  For example, 8cm x 12cm.  Subject must be miniaturised as per ruling of International Miniature Society.

NTH QLD BULK PORTS LOCAL ARTIST AWARD                                         $1,000

To be elibible for the Local Artist Award entrants must be a resident for at least three months duration, within the Mackay, Whitsunday or Isaac Regional Council regions Queensland. Entries in all sections are then eligible for this award.

SECTION FOUR – EMERGING ARTIST AWARD

Works by residents turning 16– 25 yrs in 2025 years are eligible, all 2D mediums including painting, drawing, printmaking, digital imagery & collage work.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD   

Voted by exhibition patrons, and announced on our website and social media platforms on Tuesday, 5 August 2024.

*Prize winners (excluding People’s Choice Award) will be announced on the official Exhibition opening evening on Friday 7 August 2025.

Conditions of Entry

  1. Entry fee is $25.00 (Incl GST) per artwork and is non-refundable.
  2. No more than two works per artist may be submitted.
  3. All entries in all sections are eligible for the Woollam Art on Show Award. The winning artwork is then precluded from winning any other section.
  4. To be eligible for the Local Artist Award entrants must be a resident of at least twelve months duration, within the Mackay, Whitsunday or Isaac Regional Council regions Queensland. Entries in all sections then eligible.
  5. Entry fee plus completed entry form either (online or hard copy), must be received by 12.00 midnight, Tuesday 23 June. Late entries will not be accepted.
  6. Works DELIVERED IN PERSON must be received on Saturday 1 August 9.00am-4.00pm, Deliver to 500 Pavillion, Mackay Showgrounds, Mackay.
  7. POSTED works must be posted after Thursday, 2 July and received by Friday, 31 July 3.00pm addressed to AOS c/- Artspace Mackay, Civic Centre Precinct, 61 Gordon St, Mackay
  8. Works delivered after these times will not be accepted.
  9. Emerging artists award is available to artists turning 16 in 2026 to 25 years old.
  10. All works will be inspected by the Curators panel to ensure they are appropriate for hanging. If they don’t meet the requirements, the artist will be notified and the work returned at the artists expense.
    1. All works must be appropriately labelled including:
      • Section the work has been entered into
      • The Title of Work
      • Size of framed work, including frame
      • Medium
      • Price and
      • Artist name, address and contact details.
    2. All works must be original unaided work of the entrant, i.e. Workshop projects, commercially produced kits and AI generated works are
    3. All works must be created during the twelve months prior to July 2026.
    4. All entries must be prepared securely for display with “D” rings & wire securely attached 10cm from top frame for larger works & 5cm for smaller works.
    5. Maximum size of works (including frame) is not to exceed the equivalent of 4.8 metres when measured around the perimeter. For example, framed work 1.2 x 1.2 metres or 1.0 x 1.4 metres.  Maximum length or height 2 metres and weighs less than 10kg.
    6. Minatare works will not exceed the equivalent of 100sq cm (excluding frame) or 40 cm when all dimensions are added together. For example, 10×10 cm, or 8x12cm. Subject must be miniaturised as per ruling of Internation Miniaturist societies.
    7. Works that have won major national or international awards are ineligible.
    8. The Curators panel’s decision will be final & no correspondence will be entered into.
  11. The Mackay Art Society reserves the right to reproduce entries for publicity, catalogue & archival purposes in association with the Awards.
  12. The Mackay Art Society exercises all due care in exhibiting & handling entries; however, works shall at all times remain at the risk of the entrant. No liability for any loss or damage: either in transit or while in custody of the Mackay Art Society will be accepted.
  13. All entries must be for sale.
  14. No works to be removed during the exhibition.
  15. Award winners will be provided the treasurers phone number and their Certificate. Winners must contact the treasurer to provide their bank details for deposit of winnings.
  16. The Mackay Art Society will act as sales agents. All works sold will attract a 25% commission. When possible, entrants will be promptly advised of sales and must provide bank account details for payment of sold works.
  17. Arrangement & expenses pertaining to the delivery and collection of entries are the responsibility of the entrant
  18. Return freight must be pre-paid and noted on the Entry Form. Consignment notes, pre-paid vouchers or postage stamps etc must be enclosed with entry form. Insurance of the artworks is the artist’s personal responsibility.
  19. Entries must be adequately packed on arrival, in cardboard or bubble wrap, suitable for re use for return of works.
  20. The Judge’s decision will be final & no correspondence will be entered
  21. Collection of work from the 500 Pavilion, Mackay Showground, Tuesday 11 August 00pm – 6.00pm. No responsibility taken for unclaimed entries.
