The Exhibition Volunteer Program is open to the public as well as Mackay Art Society Members.

Volunteer work on Mackay’s prestigious art competition and exhibition, the “Woollam Art on Show Awards and Exhibition 2026” involves the following :

• Working as a committee member.
• Networking, assisting and managing sponsors.
• Assisting with marketing from calling for entries, and the exhibition itself.
• Assisting with the preparation of the exhibition Monday 27th July to Monday 3rd August- unwrapping posted artworks, cataloguing artworks, setting up dividing walls, hanging and labelling artworks.
• Opening night assistance – Friday 7th August, welcome and assist guests and the public and sale of tickets and artwork.
• Artists in residence Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th and Monday 10th of August – demonstrating the creation of artworks to the public.
• Manning the exhibition Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th, Monday 10th and Tuesday morning 11th of August.
• Wrapping and returning paintings, Tuesday 11th of August 2pm to 6pm.
• Dismantling panels and freighting of paintings back to artists, Wednesday 12th of August.

Volunteering is an ideal way to meet like-minded individuals, working with other community groups, gaining new skills, share the enjoy the arts, and give back to the community. Note we offer references for individual resumes on request.

Each volunteer receives a complimentary invitation to the official exhibition opening night, Friday 7th August 2026, commencing 6.30pm.
